Whaddup? I'm back after a year and a half (almost) hiatus. So many things have changed since then, mostly for the best (I think). Anyway right now I am at home enjoying my 9 days of summer. I head back to school for class and research in about a week!
Obviously, I am trying to optimize my "summertime" this week. Over the weekend, despite the rain and foggy weather, I climbed two mountains and went kayaking. Yay nature! I love it. On Saturday, I hiked Maryland Heights with my Mom (its about a 5 mile hike). Then went kayaking for the rest of the day! On Sunday, I hiked Old Rag with my Dad (8.8 miles, BUT it involves legitimately climbing up rocks). I learned that I really need to work on my arm strength.
I definitely feel back in touch with nature after this weekend. At school, its hard to find time to do things like this, because they often take up an entire day. This summer, despite the mountain-lacking terrain of my destination, I am definitely making nature adventures a priority. They are just so good for the soul. : )
PS Everything is so green right now!! Its easy to take this green-ness for granted, because it isn't as obvious as the yellow and orange tones you see in the fall. But green is special too! On top of Old Rag, you literally could see 3284792837042873 different shades of green (okay, maybe not that many). I am obsessed with the beauty of the green right now, but maybe its just the Irish in me talking.
